Our grantee

The Polish Women's Strike (Strajk Kobiet) originated as an organic, widespread social movement in 2016, sparked by opposition to a proposed total abortion ban in parliament. In 2020 PWS led protests against abortion ban ruled by the politically compromised Constitutional Court - biggest since the fall of the communism in Poland. Since its inception, it has evolved into Poland's largest advocate for women's rights, encompassing abortion rights, human rights, democracy, the rule of law, and secularism.
